Whenever i crank my car after it rains,it makes a squeaky sound?

on a rainy day,i'll crank my car and i hear a squeaky sound from under the hood. i dnt know much about cars.  i just got a tune-up about 2 months ago.       it only does it when it rains   why?  it was made in 99  mitsubishi galant

This sounds moisture related.  After it rains, see if there is any water under the hood (you can try with a garden hose also).  I would lean towards powersteering pump, but it could be anything.

That would be a loose or worn fanbelt/serpentine belt. Moisture will make it slip and squeal.

the noise you are hearing is caused by moisture on the fan  belts

under the hood squeaks or squeals would seem to be wet belt issue , i wouldn't be too concerned if it goes away , if not check the tensioning and the idlers

It sounds to me like the moisture is causing the your drive belts to squeal. Bring the car to the shop and have them take a look at them. if they are crack or glazed (shiny) they should be replaced.



If one is bad replace all of them. They are most likely all the same age.

This could be many problems, possibly a belt beginning to get worn out. Check the belts, and starter, and if that doesn't solve the problem, I don't know...

belt squeal can be fixed with a spray that repels water and  would need to have the belts changed or adjusted depends on there condition as the others have said.
