Auto Insurance: Which cars are better?.?
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:57:42 AM »
I am in the market for a new car. I'm trying to do some research on insuring the car I might be getting. I was quoted $6,000 for full coverage on a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan (per year) from my current insurance company. My insurance now is $1,700 (per year) and I drive a red 2000 Ford Taurus, just liability. What would be some suggestions on picking a car? Will new or used be a difference (I will be financing either way)? Why a $4,300 jump in price?

least expensive cars to insure are

Buick Lucerne  &  Honda Odyssey

insurance is based on many factors

your age & driving record are high on the list.

they also use data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

New car's insurance will be higher than the used one, the insurance company determining the rates by the car's Value, so keep that in mind when pick your next car. The other facts also include the type of car, like 2 doors sport car will cost more than 4 door, even car's color, red color will be a slightly more than other color. You can read more here:http://www.carsinsurancetips.com/car-insurance-cost.php. After you pick your cars, try to get quotes online from different companies, it can save you some money.

Hope it helps!

i heard it all depends on the safety of the car and how much it would cost the insurance company to fix if you get into a wreck. the taurus seems like a reliable car so is the civic but being  a SI model they might think youll be racing or something. anything 4 door would be better than a coupe insurance wise. also where you park the car at night is another factor they take into consideration or how easy it is to steal the car. if you want to shop around for more quotes check out ...

Once a car is 4 years old, there's a significan't drop in the collision and comp rates.    Also, cars have "symbols" to rate the liklihood of a physical damage claim.  Very low end Saturns and most Volvos are a symbol 3-4, as are Dodge Caravans.

A site I've recommended in the past would be...

Hope that helps.
