I know it was really stupid of me to sign contracts without reading them thoroughly so please dont remind me of that. :(

So what happened was......

I signed all the papers and contracts and drove the car off the lot on Monday. Tuesday morning i read over the contracts and found that my 2500.00 down payment did not go toward the cost of the car at all; instead they fixed it so that it looked like i requested 2500.00 worth of cosmetic work such as interior paint. So i stopped payment on the check and took them the car back (Tuesday). I also called Capital One auto finance today (Thursday) and told them not to approve the loan (if and when they get the signed paperwork from the dealership) because i lost my job. So my question is,  can i be legally penalized for anything that I've done so far??????? Can anything happen to me at all?

No you caught the dealer in a scam. I would keep all my info and call the States Attorney to file fraud charges on them.

You should have 10 days to null the contract

If they threaten to come after you, tell them you will go to the media with their scam. The newspapers, TV, they love to expose dishonest businesses.

Just be prepared to do it if they force your hand.
