mitsubishi 3000 gt sl w/ goodies?
« on: December 26, 2007, 08:56:13 AM »
I am trying to find out what my car is worth if I sell it on the private market.  It is a 1991 sl w/ a rebuilt engine, original engine had 185,000 miles.  It has a veilside bodykit w/ the carbon fiber spoiler, custom seat brackets welded onto the frame, which tenzo racing seats sit it.  5 point harness, short shifter, ACT stage 3 clutch, RPS steel flywheel, HI-flo cat converter, HKS turbo exhaust (very throaty, it roars!!!), 5 zigen 18" rims with hankook low pro tires, slotted and dimpled rotors, steel brake lines, k& N open air filter, pioneer supreme sound system.

It needs new paint job, weather beaten from sitting on beach,  Valve cover gasket (leaking antifreeze), small hairline crack across windshield, tune-up, new carpeting,

Thanks for the responses.  I'll have to post some pix.  Its the valve cover gasket.  The Heads are brand new done at a machine shop that builds parts for military jets. I think when the mechanic didnt sit the gasket in place right or something.  Car runs extremely strong.  It has a littlr hiccup down low (probably the tune up) but after that watch out.  Impressive for a 1991 NA.     I put to much work into it to let it go for under 4,500.  Just putting my feelers out.  After the minor repairs listed, last thing I'll do is SC it with a knights supercharger kit and call it a day.

Well number one : The valve cover should not be leaking anti freeze or you have a blown head.

If that is the care the car isn't worth much at all - even with all the cool stuff you have done to it.

Sounds like it is a pretty cool car none the less.

And would be a great father son project. - or street racer.

Low retail - $2,650 - - - - This is you all day.

clean retail - $3,750 - to much needed for this

high retail - $4,600 - - this is a ways away .

Do you have preef of the engine being new and who installed it? Will they honor the engine rebuild for the new owner?

Myself I would get the valve cover fixed first - that will kill the price of this big time.

I would say 1500.00 as it sits.

YOU WILL NEVER GET WHAT YOU WANT FOR THIS VEHICLE UNLESS YOU FIND SOME YOUNG KID THAT HAS A FATHER WITH A LOT OF MONEY AND DOES NOT CARE.

I WOULD SAY ABOUT $2400.00 MAYBE.

yea Valve cover gasket would slowly leak oil, head gasket would leak antifreeze, big difference between the two, head gasket is a decently big job.
