Anyone can give me the basics for tuning an 01 Ford Mustang for higher power?

I just got it a few weeks ago and I figured I should get a nice gift to me for xmas and an early Bday present... So I want to get some basics done to upgrade power

Well, your best bet for power is a turbo or supercharger.

Those are really expensive and will probably run you for a couple grand, each. But your power will increase Immensely. You will also need to upgrade the cooling system and performance chip. A full set with a performance chip, cooling upgrade, turbo, all the other little things, and a manual on how to install will cost about $5000. None the less, you'll increase your power by about 56%

Give it a shot, search the internet, find a deal.

The basics are catback exhaust, cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, and a sct tuner with a custom tune.  All of this can be done professionally for around 1,000-1,500 and will get you around 60-80hp.  The exhaust will make your car sound much better and I would reccomend doing at least that for sure.  Go with the 3.5'' instead of the 2.5''.  I have a 2004 cobra and made the mistake of geting the 2.5'' first and every time I heard a stang owner with the 3.5'' I was totally jelous so I had to go back and spend money to get the 3.5'' instead.  They both cost about the same so if I would have done it in the first place I would have saved myself about $200.  After you do those mods, your next step would be a supercharger but if you are going to have it installed professionally you are looking at around $5,000 for the supercharger, all the needed parts, and the labor.
