What is causing my dad's truck to vibrate?
« on: November 29, 2007, 08:53:07 AM »
When he start it up, he start shaking. You can hear the windows rattling. First we thought it was the heater core, then the fuel injections, tune-up parts (spark plugs, router and etc) and now a mechanic thinks that the number one cycliner may be going bad. It started shaking when my dad was talking the heater core off and he was just puling out the wires. Then it started shaking. But my dad thinks it was the tune-up. He had those cheap parts, not Ford products. When we add the Ford producsts for the tune up, it was better, but still shaking. Could it actually be the cyclinder on the motor?

It've been like this since October, I think... or around that. Please help me! My dad is thinking of selling it! :( That is my high school truck... It is a 1991 Ford Custom F-150 4.9.

It could be the engine mount

Definently sounds like worn out motor mounts to me.

That will cause a shaking from the motor.

Most definitely sounds like mountings.  Motor mounts could very possibly be the problem...

motor mount if motor shakes, worn u-joints if whole truck shakes. If he played with the drive shaft earlier it could be unaligned.

If the truck was not shaking before he touched the core than he could have caused a short or a wire is not in its correct position. A motor mount would have been bad befor the core also. Plus the guy who eyeballed it thinks #1 is out. Check to confirm wires are on the right plugs and distributor
