I'd get a second estimate elsewhere.  $520 for the spark plugs and fuel filter sounds offensively high to me.

Go find an honest mechanic. $520.00 for spark plugs & a fuel filter?? They must think you're a cow for the milking.

Go find an honest mechanic. I know they are hard to find but I did and the man does what is necessary for the automobile, not what is good for his pocket. As a result the guy has more work than he can handle because of his honesty.

Try to find one in your area who is the same, ask around, go investigate and hunt the good mechanic down.

Then take your car to him for your repairs.

Where did you go MONROE??? Bad idea. go to a local shop not run in by a Corporation or any chain stores, and  get a quote thru them. Chances are itll be like half.

I got a brake quote once...Monroe wanted $950, not including ebrake, and paid $350 @ local shop including ebrake, just to give you an idea.

Good Luck!!

That's why to much, you shouldnt need all of the ball-joints if so how did you drive it in there? But here how it need to read.

Ball joints $200-250 for all 4

Complete tune-up (plugs, wires, all filters and fluids) $ 250-  300.

Manifold bolt is close if manifold needs to be removed to fix.

Whats the misc charges?

I can help you with the labours! 1.6 hours for upper ball joints. 2.9 hours for lower ball joints. Spark plugs 1.5 hours. If your talking about exhaust manifolds the right side takes 4.0 hours and the left takes 1.8 hours. that is just to replace the gaskets. That doesn't include removal of broken stud. Take the above times and multiply them by the shops hourly rate, then add in the cost of parts and you should be able to figure out what kind of a deal your getting! Good luck with your choices (Based on 4wd if 2wd a bit cheaper on the ball joints)

People like that guy will quote prices like that and look you

in the eye the hole time. NOT BECAUSE they are HONEST,

but because they are trying to figure out whether or not you

believe there BULL- S**T!  Keep the estimate and show it to

your friends. Pay him back for the insult.

good luck.
