2000 honda civic a good pick for tune up?
« on: January 29, 2008, 10:18:49 PM »
Im looking for Hatchback civic for learning modifying honda cars. Here in canada, I notice there's only cx and dx.

I wonder they can fit B18C5, or B16B, or B16A gen 2?

cx and dx, which one is better for tunnings? or there're other better model hatchback for noob modifier?

If you are going to do an engine swap it doesnt matter which model you get.

Pretty much any B-Series, K-Series, H-Series engine will fit into a 2000 Civic, its just a matter of how much you want to spend on getting it mounted with the proper transmission.

If it were up to me, I would go with a B16C5. But then again B16C5's are hard to find, and therefore expensive.

If B16C5 cant be found, you can never go wrong with a K20A swap.

Go with a K20 man. My brother was able to fit a K20 on his 2006 Civic LX. It was a pain and a lot of money but u can do it to any civic.

pretty much all the hatchbacks for them are non vtec so there isnt much power in those models. if you want to push the car to go faster but dont want to spend to much you should look in to some B series motors like the civic si, integra gsr or ls ect. I personally like the LS engines just because you can just throw in a turbo kit and pretty much run 13s on a qtr mile and its non vtec so there wont be muct conflict with the vtec and the turbo and not as costly. If you want to get a bang for your buck you can go with the K series but their prices are up there. I own a 00 civic si and i gota say theres alot of mods you can do for them and they dont cost as much as modding other cars so a civic is a good car to start with to learn how to mod a car.

civics are one of the best cars to mod.to be honest i wouldnt go anything newer then 99 the 00 is still ok but its heavier. the hatchback is the lighest of all models in civics but from 00 and up it got heavier then the earlier models. you can drop any D series Bseries with no problem. you put in the Hseries you need new motor mounts to drop it in but it will be a very good improvement as to performance. the Kseries like wise you need new mounts. i would go b18c5 i miss my crx. but civic is a very good choice and 00 is a nice model. you get alot of bang for your buck in hondas and you can find parts for it almost anywhere. and not to expensive. plus when something goes wrong its not that expensive to fix.

well all in all good choice on car im all for honda.
