Car won't start at ones on ignition & tuning problem?
« on: December 25, 2007, 06:57:13 AM »
I have a 1993 model Honda Civic (Automatic). When I start it in the morning, it takes about 15-20 seconds for it to start after turning the keys. But ones started and running for some time, if I stop and start, it starts immediately.

I had spark plugs and plug wire changed last Oct. but that didn't seem to slove the problem.

Furthermore a couple of days ago when i was driving really slowly (stuck in jam) or in neutral. My car used to turn off. Then one day I accelerated the car really hard a couple of times and it looks like it has re-tuned itself. But now there is more than required acceleration when in neutral. there is no RPM meter, but by the sound it looks like its at about 2500+rpm in neutral. So if I'm changing gear (Neutral -> Reverse or Neutral -> Drive or vice-versa) there is a big jerk and I HAVE to have the foot on brake of it will shoot back or forth real fast depending on the gear.

What should I do regarding the two problems.??

I had Fuel Filter and Oil changed in Nov last year. It has done about 1500kms since then

Another thing. I've already bought a new car & am selling this one off, so i don't want to spend too much on its repair. i am planning of selling it off for around AED 3000.

last year I had full engine taken out and the disk on which it was sitting and curved so it was developing pressure on engine. plus radiator repaired. that costed me about AED1000. I am not looking at spending more than AED500 on repair.

I Suggest you visit a garage like Quick Fit and they will say the problem.. I have had a problem like this and now I am currently drving my car because one of the problems is causing it not both so I need to find out which one. I suggest you drive it, let it brake down, go to Quick Fit or a garage and they will fix it easier and know whats wrong with it because its 1 problem not 2.

Good Luck!

well...

1.  Your idle is set too high for some reason...no biggy.

2.  sounds like your timing is way outa wack.

I would take it to a shop and get them to set the timing and take a look at the idle.
