it depends on the mileage on the car.  The maintenance light comes on every 3,750 miles or so to notify you of the need for an oil change.

Every 7500 miles you should be rotating your tires and cleaning and adjusting the brakes.

Every 30,000 miles you change the spark plugs and adjust the valves and change your air filter (this is the "tune up)  also change your cabin air filter every 2 years.

every 45,000 change the brake fluid

every 90,000 change the transmission fluid

every 105,000 change the timing belt, water pump and coolant.

so you can figure out from that matrix what your car is due for based on your mileage.

hope that answers your question

that light comes on ever 7500 miles to remind you to do a maintenance... its nothing serious really..if it was a CEL or check engine light...take that serious because there is something wrong with your engine

It's a mechanical indicator to tell you that your car is nearing 7,500 miles and needs an oil and filter change if you haven't already done so along with other general maintenance checkups.

If you've already done an oil and oil filter change to your car, you can reset the indicator yourself.  If there is a key hole on your cluster next to the trip meter reset button, simply insert and push your car keys through the hole and the indicator will return to normal.

Hope this helps!
