would it not be better to ask the person who is going to do the work for you what he or she needs

A "tune up" on a 93 anything will consist:

1. Spark plugs (4 or 6)

2. A Cap and Rotor if it does not have "electronic ignition"

3. A PCV valve (no tools required)

4. Air filter (no tools required in most cases, a screwdriver at most)

6. Fuel filter. Could require a special tool that costs $6 at Kragens or Autozone.

7. Serpentine belt or "V" belts. No special tools required.

8. Use a cooking baster to suck the fluid out of the power steering reserve and replace with new (appropriate fluid) do this every 1000 miles until the fluid cleans up. You do not have to have it vacuumed out.

9. It is not likely the transmission has ever been serviced. Take it to a tranny shop. It's not likely your friend can do this. Get the filter changed too. If it's a manual tranny they also require service. All oils wear out.

10. Differential lube

This goes far beyond a "tune up" as it is likely you or previous owner did little or any of this.

The tools required would be in almost any box of a "week end" warrior.

To have all this done by a mechanic can reach over $1000.00. The "net" has many sites that can help or you can buy a service book for less than $20 for a car that old.

Spark Plug Gappers, Feeler Gauges, screwdriver, sockets, ratchets and wrenches, computer scanner to see if all was done correctly.

By the time you are finished buying all of these items it would be alot cheaper just to go to an independent auto repair shop and let them do the tune up for you.

Between $500.00 to $1000.00 for the equipment or more.
