1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse won't start in Cold Weather?
« on: March 06, 2008, 02:06:52 AM »
My friends 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS just won't start when it's cold outside. It cranks fine, but that's all it does.. Cranks. We've switched out batteries, and also replaced both battery terminals, the car also recently got a tune-up. It seems as if whenever it's cold out it just won't start, but as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer, it has no problem firing right up. The car has an aftermarket alarm/remote ignition installed on it, could that possibly have anything to do with it? If anyone could help out with any ideas, it'd be most appreciated. Thank You.

Could be your battery is not delivering enough Cold Cranking Amps to turn starter fast enough when its cold. Dont get CCA and Marine Cranking Amps confused. 1000 Marine Cranking Amps is equivalent to about 850 CCA. A little trick from battery companies.
